The Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), presents the ‘Borderless Youth Forum’ , a new frontier of connecting, engaging and empowering youth through design and technology to promote a justice, peaceful and inclusive society towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

What is the Borderless Youth Forum?

The Borderless Youth Forum connects youth (age 18-30) across national boundaries through virtual collaboration and design thinking to create new experiences that advance justice.

It is designed to foster trust and relationship while thousands kilometers away, to build empathy with people who face injustice in different parts of the world, to learn from local experts, and to create prototypes to explore new ways to address social justice issues.

How Does It Work ?

There are three elements that create
a platform for youth to connect, learn and innovate
around justice.

What value does the Borderless Youth Forum provide?

Wider participants, from many locations, at once

Combining digital collaboration and design thinking, the Borderless Youth Forum has the potential to engage hundreds youth from many locations across the globe to learn, collaborate, and innovate together while being thousands of kilometers apart.

Learn from experts in different languages and cultural contexts

Through online interviews, youth learn what justice issues look like on the ground, empathizing with human stories in different languages, different social and cultural contexts.

Harness creativity to find out-of-the-box solutions

With knowledge they gain from the experts, youth will go through human-centered design thinking approaches to synthesize and define challenges related to justice issues. They will then ideate and prototype their innovations to address challenges.

Build a network of passionate people

The Borderless Youth Forum allows passionate youth, regardless of where they are, to connect and learn from each other.

The network we are building can strengthen civic engagement, which can also lead to social innovations to solve justice issues.

More access to engage and contribute to justice

The Borderless Youth Forum is conducted virtually, with digital tools. This reduces the cost of traditional in-person youth forums, which have significant costs of logistics, flights, and accommodation, among many others.

More youth can engage in the technology-enhanced forum. More are given the opportunity to engage with the issues they are passionate about. More people are receiving support to reach their fullest potential to contribute to justice.
